What are my options when I’d like to buy a new home, yet I have a home that I need to sell?

My wife and I would like to buy a new home, but we still have to sell the home we’re in now. Is there any way to sell your house and stay in it until you find a new home?

If for financial reasons you must sell before you buy, then plan on renting for a while. You will find very few sellers that will accept an offer to buy contingent upon the sale of your home. However once your home is under contract and all contingencies have been satisfied, you might find a seller that will accept your offer contingent upon the closing of your home.
